From the archives. A shot of the Klipheuwel Windfarm Research Facility.
In 2002/03, Eskom erected three wind turbines at an experimental wind energy farm at Klipheuwel on the West Coast near Cape Town. Research on the potential of wind energy as an electricity generating option has been carried out as well as an evaluation of different wind-based technologies and their economic viability.

Beautiful shot. A feeling of space, and that piece of road really makes this photo

Interesting! I did not even know about it :( - Are they in operation or just standing there as a reminder of their experiment? Excellent shot, they look huge!

@Ina: Thanks Ina, they are in operation and there is ongoing research (when they don't have load shedding for their research computers :)
What a marvellous shot Graham. The sheer size of these wind machines is mind-boggling. I love the composition with the mountains, and the tarred road, and then those alien creatures rising out of the ground. Personally I pefer old fashioned windmills like the ones you have featured previously, but then . . . ah . . . progress!

Nice bright colours Graham, although the slanted horizon is a bit distracting! I love windfarms, gonna try get some shots of offshore ones soon!

Very well composed with those towering windmills shown off to the full.

I love these windmills, they always seem so majestic and carefree - - I have yet to photograph any though. I like the mountains in the distance too, nice shot.
